The best part [about fishing] is being able to zone out from the daily grind and focus on being in the moment. When you have friends and family with you, you’re just really in the moment and enjoying that time.

I love to fly fish; that’s my favorite type of fishing. It could generally be for trout, but I’ve gone saltwater fishing as well. Any type of fishing where I can have a fly rod in my hand is going to be my favorite.

When [my family was] in Colorado for the Christmas [to] New Year’s break, we set aside time to go fishing. One day, I fished with my son, and it was 10 to 20 degrees—brutally cold. It was windy, but we had one of the best days ever. … We stood in ankle-deep water and caught a lot of fish in a short amount of time, surrounded by mountains.

[Back in] March 2017, there was an eclipse during the day. [My friends and I] were fishing and wearing eclipse glasses. For about an hour—30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the eclipse—the fishing was insanely good. Like every cast, we were catching fish. It was the middle of the day, but the fish thought the day was ending. Then they got really active [again], they thought the sun was rising. I may never get another chance to do something like that again.
