The FDIC announced it will expand its #GetBanked public awareness campaign into the Los Angeles, Dallas, and Detroit metro areas after launching it last year in Atlanta and Houston.
Background: The #GetBanked campaign, which encourages unbanked consumers to consider opening a checking account, focuses on areas with a significant number of unbanked Black and Hispanic households.
Details: The FDIC said it will use English- and Spanish-language digital, audio, and video advertisements to reach unbanked consumers, particularly during the tax filing season.
ICBA Directory: Meanwhile, ICBA offers a directory of community banks that can open accounts remotely with a starting balance of $25 or less. Community banks can add their bank to the directory by completing an online form.
