Senate confirms Hill as FDIC chairman
December 22, 2025 / By ICBA
The Senate confirmed Travis Hill as FDIC chairman. Hill has served as acting chairman since January and was previously sworn in as vice chairman in January 2023.
ICBA View: In a national news release, ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey congratulated Hill, noting he has demonstrated “a clear understanding of the vital role of community banks in local communities and the need for tiered regulations to support local economic growth.”
ICBA Support: ICBA in October encouraged senators to advance Hill’s nomination. In a separate news release, Romero Rainey said Hill is well prepared to deal with numerous policy questions, including advancing tiered regulation.
CFTC Confirmation: The Senate also confirmed Mike Selig to be chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Selig was chief counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Crypto Task Force and an adviser to SEC Chair Paul Atkins.
