Travis Hill sworn in as FDIC chairman
January 14, 2026 / By ICBA
Travis Hill was sworn in as the 23rd chairman of the FDIC.
Background: Hill has served as acting chairman since January 2025. He was nominated by President Donald Trump on Sept. 30, 2025, for a term of five years and confirmed by the Senate on Dec. 18.
ICBA Support: ICBA in October encouraged senators to advance Hill’s nomination, citing his distinguished career and understanding of the importance of community banks in supporting local communities. In a separate news release last fall, ICBA congratulated Hill on his nomination and encouraged swift confirmation by the Senate.
