Congressional leaders back tiered regulation at ICBA Capital Summit

Congressional leaders addressing attendees at this week’s 2026 ICBA Capital Summit spotlighted their efforts to advance legislation providing community bank regulatory relief and taking on fraud and scams.
Highlights:
House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill (R-Ark.) said he is working to advance community bank regulatory relief via the Main Street Capital Access Act (H.R. 6955) and the community banking provisions of the House-passed 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (H.R. 6644).
House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Dan Meuser (R-Pa.) said community banks are the champions of fighting fraud, citing ICBA-backed legislation he is co-sponsoring to combat predatory online scam advertisements.
Capitol Hill Meetings: This week’s ICBA Capital Summit brought community bankers from across the country to Washington to discuss ICBA’s legislative priorities during meetings with congressional offices on Capitol Hill, including via ICBA’s new interactive map showcasing the community banking industry’s coast-to-coast footprint in local communities.
