May 01, 2026 / By ICBA
ICBA urged the Commodities Futures Trading Commission to prohibit prediction market speculation on a bank’s survivability.
Details: In a letter to the CFTC on its prediction market advance notice of proposed rulemaking, ICBA said prohibiting bank speculation is essential to protecting the public interest and maintaining confidence in the financial system.
Background: Prediction markets allow users to make predictions on whether an event or specific outcome would occur. The CFTC is responsible for determining whether specific event contracts on prediction market platforms are contrary to the public’s interest.
