The $605 million-asset community bank has been a longtime supporter of Care and Share Food Bank for fundraising activities, and for the first time, the community bank took part in the food packing event. Bank volunteers went through the organized process of scrubbing in, forming an assembly line and prepping food packages that will be sent out to their distribution sites.
Care and Share Food Bank partners with many food banks throughout Colorado, distributing supplies to its network of 289 partners in 29 counties. First National Bank Colorado’s packages specifically went to veterans and their families, along with supplies for Care and Share’s hunger relief partners.
In total, First National Bank Colorado’s team packaged 490 bags of food for those in need, all within an hour. There was playful competition that served as a motivating team-building activity and provided a step away from the bank for a day, all while doing something beneficial for the community.
Quentin Leighty, president and CFO at First National Bank Colorado, believes strongly in serving the community with events like these. “There are people in need, and we want to help them,” he said. “We just think so much of this nonprofit and what they do.”
The Care and Share Food Bank network serves the lowest-income areas of the state and runs on volunteer support, so Leighty says the community bank will continue to lend a hand by making this activity a regular team event.
