ICBA Commends Trump Administration on Actions to Promote U.S. Cybersecurity
March 09, 2026 / By ICBA
Washington, D.C. (March 9, 2026) — Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey issued the following statement on President Donald’s Trump’s executive actions on combating cyber threats.
“ICBA and the nation’s community banks commend the Trump administration for releasing President Trump’s Cyber Strategy for America and executive order on combating cybercrime, fraud, and predatory schemes. With community banks on the front lines defending the financial sector and bank customers against cyber threats, these executive actions make a much-needed commitment to government and private-sector coordination and to hardening our financial and digital systems against cyber threats executed by sophisticated transnational criminal organizations.
“ICBA and community bankers strongly support ensuring cyber and data security standards that are streamlined and non-duplicative, a broader approach to supervision that includes all companies that have access to consumer financial data, bi-directional sharing of threat intelligence between the financial sector and the government, and greater coordination with other countries to confront these growing threats. As we recently told Congress during a hearing on combating fraud, an effective response requires coordination among financial institutions, law enforcement, and government at every level.
“ICBA looks forward to continuing to work with the administration and Congress to protect our nation’s cyberspace and combat threats against U.S. citizens.”
