Wes Beedon's Love of Classic Rock

A Minnesota community banker tells us why he finds joy in performing live music.
[I’ve been playing guitar for] many decades in the Twin Cities metro area and [at] a variety of restaurants and clubs and festivals. For example, [in October], I played Harvest Fest in Stillwater [Minnesota].

I work with three different groups. It can be as small as an acoustic duo or as large as a full band … we scale it to the venue. If we’re playing a nice restaurant, we might just do an acoustic duo. For an outdoor festival, it’s a full five-piece band.
[We typically perform] classic rock. We do some originals, but it’s primarily covers that we arrange in our own way. You’d recognize the song, but we definitely make it our own.
My favorite part of performing is the interaction with the audience. It’s rewarding to see how much joy music brings to people.
[Playing guitar is] definitely a creative outlet. It’s a great diversion. When you’re playing live, you can’t do anything else other than just focus on the music. It’s a great way to get your mind off things and have some fun.
