Federal cybersecurity officials called on U.S. critical infrastructure to be prepared to defend against a possible Russian state-sponsored cyberattack.
Federal Briefing: During a briefing on the U.S. homeland impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, representatives from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, FBI, and other agencies encouraged stakeholders to monitor CISA’s “Shields Up” resource center for the latest updates and guidance.
Key Guidance: The officials also reiterated that stakeholders should examine their networks for Russian state-sponsored HTTPs, mitigate public-facing vulnerabilities, secure credentials, report anomalous activity, and take all necessary steps to maximize resilience to a cyberattack.
White House Statement: The call followed this week’s statement from President Joe Biden warning of evolving intelligence that the Russian government is exploring options for potential cyberattacks.
