With the ongoing government shutdown threatening to harm local economic growth, ICBA encouraged all sides to work together to reopen the government.
ICBA Statement: In a national news release, ICBA said:
Policymakers should quickly pass a continuing resolution to reopen the government and get back to the negotiating table to finish the appropriations process.
Policymakers have used continuing resolutions multiple times over the years to keep the government open while finishing the budget.
With the shutdown affecting critical market-based programs such as the Community Development Financial Institution Fund, Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture lending programs, and the National Flood Insurance Program, timely action to end the shutdown is imperative.
