President Donald Trump nominated FDIC Acting Chairman Travis Hill to be FDIC chairman.
ICBA View: In a national news release, ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey congratulated Hill on his nomination and encouraged swift confirmation by the Senate.
What It Means for Community Bankers: “In his service as acting chairman and vice chairman, Hill has demonstrated his clear understanding of the important role of community banks and the need for tiered regulations to preserve access to banking services in local communities,” Romero Rainey said.
Background: Hill has served as FDIC acting chairman since January and was previously sworn in as vice chairman in January 2023. He previously worked at the FDIC from 2018 to 2022, as deputy to the chairman for policy and, before that, as senior advisor to the chairman.
